By night this building has a great quality of light emanating, spilling out towards the camera which really draws you in. The open space surrounding and nearby bushland make for a welcoming arrival just off the freeway. I aimed to catch a feel of this through longer exposures and wider fields of view to highlight the organic forms and glow from the capsules as day turned to night.

“Jock Comini Reserve Amenities bring delight and appreciation of landscape to the rest stop experience. An inclusive design approach caters for diverse cultural and gender preferences and prioritises personal safety. Light filled, airy and pleasant are the qualities on offer for users of the rest stop in contrast to the typically dark and dank public toilet experience. Glazed and stainless-steel walls reflect and transmit the colours of the surrounding bush. The curved layout and the low-lying roof form a distinctive intervention in the Ravenswood landscape.” — Kerstin Thompson
